Lawick Muller
LawickMüller ( Friederike van Lawick and Hans Müller ) live and work in Berlin.
Beginning of a creative partnership after their studies.
Since 1990 artistic collaboration producing joint works in the field of photography and its digital processing.
In this image Lawick has produced a face that looks realistic but used it twice, to get the duplicated technique. He has changed the hair and readjusted some of the areas in the image such as taking off the bands on the wrists, taking off the earings on the right ear but has left the same position and face expression. In the image it looks like he has used water colours of some sort, and then mainly done it digital on Photoshop to redo the final touches. It also gives the impression of gender change between the two pictures as he has given one short hair and one long hair however the person with the short hair is wearing jewellery and the person with the long hair is not wearing any. Lawick has made the skin and hair realistic by using the right shade of colour in the right places of the face and upper body. In the image it sets off a mysterious mood and may be a confused one as Lawick hasn’t really showed a clear expression on the faces it makes it think about it more about why he has done this.
In Lawicks second image, he has created something different to what he normally does. It looks like he has created multiple realistic heads then decided to change his idea and experiment something he’s never tried before by having the last image a statue and the rest realistic perhaps gradually developing continuously. There could be a message that Lawick may be showing, he could be trying to show a transformation of how he could transform in the future or may be showing something similar to blend it in with the realistic face as well. The mood portrayed is seriousness you get this idea by just looking at the facial expressions on each face.
